Press Release – Minister Theo Francken Visits Advionics Facility Amid Rising Defense Budgets

Oostkamp, Belgium – 15 July 2025

Today, minister of Defense Theo Francken visited Advionics, part of the Intersoft Electronics Group, to highlight the growing importance of Belgian defense industry players in light of increasing national defense budgets. The visit underscores the government’s recognition of domestic innovation and manufacturing excellence in defense electronics.

During the visit, Minister Francken met with Jan Bonte, CEO of Advionics, and Luc Switten, CEO of Intersoft Electronics Group. Discussions focused on the companies’ contributions to defense technology, their strategic growth, and their role in strengthening Belgium’s defense capabilities.

Theo Francken, Minister of Defense: “This is a wonderful company that is growing very strongly. But it has very few contracts with Belgian Defense. That must improve. We must put our own industry much more in the spotlight. That’s how we create jobs, added value and international visibility.”

Advionics brings over 60 years of experience in manufacturing complex RF electronics to military standards and offers fully vertically integrated manufacturing services. The company recently expanded its operations with a new facility to meet rising demand, as reported in the business press.

Intersoft Electronics Group is globally recognized as a leader in radar test and measurement equipment and is a trusted provider of radar technologies for system upgrades and OEM integrations worldwide.

Minister Francken’s visit reflects the government’s commitment to supporting Belgian technological leadership in the defense sector.
