To keep up with rising demand, radar manufacturer Advionics is expanding its production capacity in Oostkamp with a brand-new facility. The investment, worth several million euros, will allow the company to scale operations and create 50 additional jobs.
Meeting growing demand
Advionics specializes in radar systems for aviation and maritime applications, helping customers secure airspace from airports and ships. “We supply the Belgian defense sector as well as other NATO countries, including Germany and the United States,” explains CEO Jan Bonte.
With demand for radar systems surging — partly due to global tensions such as the war in Ukraine — expansion has become essential. The company recently launched a new radar antenna system, further boosting interest. Additionally, a key partnership with a Walloon Brabant-based medical equipment company has opened new opportunities.
A major expansion
Founded in the 1960s, Advionics has long been based in Oostkamp. Now, it is adding a 6,000-square-meter production hall — nearly half the size of its current facility. Construction began at the end of 2024, and the new space will house both production and additional office space for development.
“The extra production capacity will be phased in gradually,” says Bonte. “Over time, this expansion will allow us to grow from 200 to 250 employees.”
With revenue in 2023 already up by 8 million euros compared to the previous year, and a strong order pipeline through 2030, Advionics is positioning itself for continued growth in the years ahead.
