CNS Drone SkyRF® Radome Maintenance

Maintaining a clean radome is crucial for the optimal performance of radar systems. A radome, which is a structural, weatherproof enclosure that protects radar antennas, plays a vital role in ensuring that radar signals are transmitted and received with minimal interference. When dirt, grime, or other contaminants accumulate on the surface of a radome, they can scatter and absorb radar signals, leading to a significant reduction in signal clarity and strength.

CNS Drone SkyRF® Measurement System Maturity Evolution

After the first successful tests in 2015 and the development phase in 2016 and 2017, the system has been deployed from 2018 for ILS preventive maintenance. Thus, it is very mature, with operational experience at Skyguide of more than six years, as well as being already the second-generation drone, measurements, procedures and handling have been further optimized, especially in regarding usability and versatility. This is a product developed by users (Skyguide ANSP) for users (ANSP,
Airport, CNS maintenance organizations). It of course profits from the experience and the daily use of Skyguide Navigation engineers and maintenance technicians.

NGSP® Next Generation System Platform

The signal and data processing electronics are typically the first subsystem to become obsolete or underperform. Intersoft Electronics designed the Next Generation System Platform (NGSP®) with flexibility in mind. It comprises a frequency synthesizer (exciter), receiver, and signal and data processing electronics and has been utilized to upgrade various combined primary and secondary radar systems, ranging from ASR/Terminal Approach, Gap Filler, and Precision Approach to En-Route and Long-Range 3D military systems.

Advanced Processing Technologies

Modern airport surveillance radar (ASR) must incorporate innovative algorithms to address the challenges of the changing airspace environment. Air traffic density
increases, low radar cross section (RCS) targets fill the skies, windfarms create false detections and 4G/5G frequencies interfere with radar. Rest the more common
issues of clutter suppression and weather phenomena like anomalous propagation. New technologies offer solutions and create other opportunities. Extracting accurate height information is such a novel feature of modern ASRs.

Nora® Non-Rotating Array Technology

Non-rotating arrays, also known as Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs), have traditionally been associated with costly military radar systems. Intersoft Electronics is developing similar non-rotating array technologies aimed at offering advanced capabilities found in military systems to both military and…
