Bosnia and Herzegovina Air Navigation Services Agency (BHANSA) has taken a significant step toward modernizing its CNS (Communication, Navigation and Surveillance) infrastructure measurements by adopting the SkyRF® drone-based measurement system.
This innovative solution, developed by Intersoft Electronics and Skyguide, enables precise and efficient testing of navigation aids using drone technology.
Background
As part of its ongoing commitment to airspace safety and modernization, BHANSA identified the need to upgrade its CNS measurement capabilities. Traditional flight inspection methods, while effective, are resource-intensive and limited in flexibility. BHANSA sought a solution that could offer:

The SkyRF® solution
BHANSA partnered with Intersoft Electronics and Skyguide to implement the SkyRF® drone platform, a cutting-edge drone-based solution for CNS measurements. The system enables precise, repeatable and safe measuring of CNS performance in the field, using drone technology.
Implementation & training
Following the implementation, the specialized training combined theoretical lectures with practical exercises on real equipment, ensuring a deep understanding of both the system and its operational context.
During the practical sessions, BHANSA’s technical team conducted measurements on VOR/DME, ILS and radar systems. The training also explored the potential to expand the application of advanced technologies to other systems, including advanced radar parameter measurements, verification of PAPI and ALS systems.
This training equipped BHANSA’s technical team with the skills to operate the system independently.
