Smart IFF solution for ships
Get to know the L-IESA® Mini, an advanced IFF transponder antenna designed for naval ships. It ensures seamless identification by eliminating signal interference caused by ship structures, providing clear and uninterrupted coverage.
Why L-IESA® Mini Antenna?
Traditional ship antennas send signals in all directions (360°) to ensure identification. However, large structures on ships, such as masts and walls, can reflect these signals, leading to self-interference. This interference creates deep coverage gaps in the antenna pattern (visible in the red curve of the test diagram) where the ship might not be identifiable.
These gaps can pose serious risks in military operations, potentially leading to misidentification, communication failure, or non-compliance with strict NATO standards.
A common workaround is installing two antennas on opposite sides of the ship, but this still leads to signal reflections and weak spots in coverage, making them non-compliant with strict NATO standards.

The L-IESA® Mini is trusted by leading naval forces and is already deployed on various ships, including those of the German, Portuguese and Royal Netherlands Navy.
